Buy Chanel Handbag Online for that Special Occasion

By Nikki LeRoi

Ladies, when you want the best of the handbag world, there's nothing more perfect than a Chanel handbag.

If you are truly looking to buy Chanel handbag, you won't believe how much selection there is online - you'll be drooling over the wide variety of styles and colors of Chanel handbags.

Class, style and comfort are three words that describe the Chanel line of fashion accessories. Coco Chanel was a pioneer in women’s clothing and accessories. When you sport a chic Chanel handbag on your arm, you’re carrying on a long tradition of women who love classic style that’s glamorous and comfortable.

One of the unique things about the Chanel bag is its quilted leather design. While you’ll find that Chanel makes many different styles of handbags, they still offer the classic quilted Chanel bag. These bags are legends in the fashion world.

Normally, you’d have to go to a Chanel flagship store, or high-end department store to find Chanel designer handbags and totes, and you’d pay a pretty penny for each one (average price over $1,000). Fortunately, the online world provides lots of opportunities for the fashion savvy woman to find top-of-the-line designer handbags at bargain prices.

Of course, we’re talking Chanel here, so you’re still going to pay a healthy price, but instead of one bag, you’ll be able to buy two or three. Ladies, you know there’s nothing like the style, quality and comfort of an authentic Chanel handbag. No matter what your mood, there’s a Chanel handbag to match.

It’s a smart idea to go online to buy Chanel handbag, since you’ll be able to find some fantastic bargains. Don’t get too carried away, though. You’ll want to make sure you’re getting only authentic Chanel and not that cheap imitation stuff. Before you buy, I suggest browsing lots of bags to get familiar with what an authentic Chanel bag looks like. Don’t buy from any seller that gives you a “funny feeling.”

What kinds of Chanel handbags can you buy online?

The sky’s the limit. Leather, fur, wicker, print, new, vintage, black, white, tan, red, green, blue, pink, clutch, drawstring, handbag, tote, messenger bag, special editions, etc. You definitely won’t grow bored with the choices of styles and colors.

Now there’s no need for you to live close to a Chanel boutique or high-end department store that carries these exclusive bags. Your new Chanel bag is delightfully at your fingertips.

Preserving Vintage Clothing

By Christina Passariello
Wallstreet Journal

While vintage clothing is a hobby for many fashionistas, it's a job for Pamela Golbin, curator in chief of the Musée de la Mode et du Textile. She has selected thousands of items, including old Chanel gowns, Dior suits and Balenciaga coats, to be preserved in Paris's fashion museum.

Vintage fashion "is like my passport: It tells me the history of the person who wore it and who designed it," Ms. Golbin says.

But when it comes to wearing clothing from several decades ago, there are some big challenges. Women's body shapes have changed, making the fit of many garments uncomfortable. Old fabrics can be delicate to handle and to wash. Ms. Golbin limits her own use of vintage items to a few family hand-me-downs. Her favorite items are her mother's 1970s knit sweaters and accessories from her grandmother, including some jewelry and a pair of Hermès black evening shoes from the 1950s. "It's very personal," Ms. Golbin says.

Gorgeous as it is, vintage fashion can be impractical for modern women. Ms. Golbin's grandmother has carefully preserved a Christian Dior gown from the designer's first collection, more than 60 years ago, when his lavish use of fabric offended the French, who were recovering from World War II. But when Ms. Golbin tried it on, she fell to the floor under its weight. "When you look at vintage fashion, you realize how much modern technology has brought to the industry," Ms. Golbin says.

At work, Ms. Golbin painstakingly tends to her vintage acquisitions to help them stand the test of time. Each piece she buys is vetted for bugs. She says it's impossible to know how the clothing has been stored -- if it has been contaminated with termites or moths in someone's attic. So the first thing she does is have the item washed at the highest heat possible to kill any eggs. "If one piece is infested, it can infect the entire collection," she says. She fills her armoire with cedar sticks to keep her clothes bug-free.

Fragile vintage fashion usually requires more care than modern apparel. Ms. Golbin advises laying heavy beaded clothing flat, since the weight of the garment may break the foundation of the beading. Other clothes, such as coats, should always be hung up to prevent the fabric from folding in an awkward way. Use wood hangers that correspond to the size of the garment, Ms. Golbin says. Otherwise, the hanger could poke a hole through the fabric or stretch it.

The Classic Beauty of a Dior Handbag

By Michelle Bery

For women, there’s no greater luxury than designer clothing – those beautiful outfits we wait for every season – brought to us by design houses that are synonymous with upscale fashion. But just as designer clothes are revered and desired, so are designer handbags. What may be a functional accessory for some, is a fashion statement for others. And for those people, the Dior handbag rates high on the list of desirable handbags.

French designer, Christian Dior, opened his first design house in 1949 in New York City. But his designs began years before that – embraced by an audience hungry for new creativity. Before long, Dior was a name inseparable from high fashion and enthusiasts awaited the new pieces that were added to the collection year after year. But before long, the Dior handbag was a part of the Dior collection – a glamorous and functional accessory that was eagerly awaited by consumers. The Dior handbag is so revered because of its quality and style. The handbag reflects the commitment to quality demonstrated by everything that carries the Dior name. And the style of each handbag is attractive and unique. Whether you need an evening bag to complement a formal outfit, or carry-all bag for a weekend away, the Dior handbag will meet your needs with style, sophistication, and quality.

These superior handbags can be found in high-end department stores and exclusive boutiques – or even ordered online. Of course, a designer name carries a designer price tag; and for those interested in the Dior handbag, the price often makes a purchase cost-prohibitive. In an effort to save some money, some consumers will look for deeply discounted deals in a variety of places. But it is important to ensure that you are purchasing the real Dior handbag and not a replica that disreputable companies make in order to turn a profit. A genuine Dior handbag – while pricey – is worth the expense.

Classic and sophisticated, the Dior handbag will never go out of style as it adapts to changing styles and sets new ones as the world waits to see what will come next.

Bag measures approximately 15 inch long by 9 inch tall by 4 inch wide. Leather strap handle measures approx. 13 inch long with a 10 inch drop. Shop this authentic Gucci hobo at a 26% discount.

Read more about Gucci handbags in this article by Jonathan Andrews:

The Gucci Handbag - Perfect Anywhere

While it's always fun to shop for a new handbag, finding exactly the right one can be a bit difficult. It's never a good idea to simply grab a handbag off the store shelf and think it will be the perfect finishing touch to all your carefully planned ensembles, you are deluding yourself. Even carrying an elegant and costly Gucci handbag is not enough in itself to tie your outfits together and give you that chic look for which you are striving.

It's important, for that perfect outfit that your accessories match each other and complement your apparel, or you will simply look like a well-heeled street person. So if you are determined to treat yourself to a Gucci handbag, there are some tips you should consider in making the best possible choice.

Classical Vs Trendy

If you want a Gucci handbag which will co-ordinate with the greatest possible items in your wardrobe, look for one of the many classically-designed Gucci handbags. While snapping up the latest trend-setting bag can be a real temptation, trends are exactly that: trends. No matter how dazzling they may be, you are unlikely to find used for trendy handbags once their season is past. And you'll be back in the store dropping another considerable sum on another Gucci handbag.

You are always safest, in choosing a Gucci handbag to co-ordinate with the largest possible number of outfits, to stick with Gucci handbags in neutral shades of brown, tan, or gray; and black or white, of course, will work with almost any ensemble. While brighter colors certainly have their appeal, they are simply not as versatile as neutrals.

Form Meeting Function

Decide for which occasions you intend to carry your Gucci handbag, and find one with a shape, design, and size appropriate for those times. If you will be using your Gucci bag in a business setting, it should look different from one you expect to use for less formal social gatherings.

You can find a large Gucci handbag of heavy leather or other substantial material to double as an attaché case, but for evening wear and formal occasions, small Gucci handbags of silk, satin, or sequined materials which complement your formal attire are the proper choice.

Regardless of the setting in which you will be carrying your Gucci handbag, you can carry it with the confidence that it is giving you an air of elegance and good taste!

Designer Luxury Daily - Fendi Double Zucca Shoulder Bag

Although FENDI has come a long way since first introducing the signature zucca pattern, every bag collector should have a Fendi zucca bag as part of the collection. The FENDI double zucca canvas shoulder bag is pays homage to the classic look but makes it modern with the belt buckle detail in tobacco brown leather adorning the front of the bag. Fendi purse measures approximately 10.5 W x 6.5 H with a 2 inch depth. The adjustable strap measures about 19 inches long with a 6 inch drop. Shop this authentic FENDI handbag at 30% off now.

Read this article by Clark Hunter to learn how to shop for authentic Fendi bag:

If you are looking for authentic Fendi bags to buy, there are some simple things that you can look for that will help you determine what is real and what is a waste of your money. When you think you are looking at authentic Fendi bags a replica is the absolute worst thing that you could spend your money on. Authentic Fendi bags are beautiful, high quality, and internationally known for their spectacular impact on the whole handbag industry. Because Fendi is so well known and they offer such a wide variety of handbag styles, they are the most widely replicated bags in the world. Knowing all of this, you should be sure that you can buy the real Fendi bags that you want to buy.

The first thing to take note of is that all authentic Fendi bags have serial numbers printed right on them. This shouldn't be a serial number that occurs in any other Fendi handbag, so if you are at a retailer that has several bags all with the same serial number, you know that they are fakes. It's important to note that many fakes do in fact have serial numbers, so you cannot assume that a serial number makes one an authentic Fendi. A serial number in and of itself isn't enough to have you opening your check book, so keep reading so that you can decipher which is the real deal and which is not so that you don't spend too much on something that isn't worth it.

Once you have located the serial number you can then move onto the straps or handles on the handbag. Authentic Fendi bags have leather, not vinyl, straps and handles on their bags most of the time. Also, the straps are totally leather, there is no layering or vinyl backing on the handles and straps. Also, when you look at the stitching in the leather on authentic Fendi bags you will notice that it is not a different color, in fact it is so like the color of the leather it practically blends into it, while knockoffs are usually stitched in a different color. Stitching will also be straight on authentic Fendi bags, while replicas will often have uneven stitched lines in the handles or straps. It is this attention to detail that makes authentic Fendi bags so much more beautiful and pricey than anything else.

Another item that will clue you into which are authentic Fendi bags are the buckles. Buckles on the authentic bags will be perfectly square, not rectangular or circular. Buckles usually say Fendi on the sides of them as well, while others do not. Not only is the buckle perfectly square, everything about authentic Fendi bags is perfectly uniform. There is no unevenness to Fendi bags, but many of the replicated bags will be smaller on one side than they are on the other, the zipper won't be sewn in exactly even, and there just isn't the attention to detail that Fendi gives their bags.

Another thing that you should consider when you are shopping for authentic Fendi bags is that the retailer shouldn't be uncomfortable with you checking out all of these subtle differences. Retailers that get nervous when you start zipping and unzipping, buckling and unbuckling, and checking for real Fendi characteristics generally have something to hide and it would be in your best interest to move on to a retailer that is open and honest and comfortable with all of their products being scrutinized by their customers. That's the way retail works, and those that are legit know it.

The Rise, Fall and Rise of The Gucci Handbag

Not much garners more admiration and respect in the fashion world than designer handbags. What were once thought of as solely functional, have now been elevated to sophisticated and stylish fashion; those pieces that women with means will track down at all costs in order to have the latest and greatest in handbags in their collection. The Gucci line, especially, has long been respected for their Gucci handbag – among other luxury items – and continues to hold court in the fashion world as one of the most reputable companies of all times.

The Gucci handbag had its beginnings in Florence Italy in 1921, when Guccio Gucci opened his first store that specialized in leather products including handbags and saddles. By the late 1930s Gucci had opened a store in Rome and had become known for high quality and luxury items. The family business continued to blossom even after Guccio Gucci’s death in 1953; his sons continued the work their father had begun and before long there were Gucci stores in every major city including New York, London, Paris, and Hong Kong.

However, success was not enough to prevent the Gucci boys from fighting each other on design and business decisions and in the late 1970s the company hit hard times, almost resulting in the bankruptcy and the closing of doors. The company would not regain firm financial footing into well into the 1990s when it was bought out by a holding company.

With the purchase of the Gucci brand came a new designer, and the brand was well into a full-blown revitalization by the mid-nineties. The Gucci handbag had a comeback as well, becoming a favorite among celebrities.

The Gucci handbag is synonymous with luxury and continues to be on the wish list of many women far and wide. With a reputation for quality, style, creativity, and sophistication, Gucci will undoubtedly continue to be a name significant in the fashion world for many generations to come.

Is a Prada Milano Handbag Suitable for theTrendy Gal?

By Eddy Lam

Prada Milano Handbag almost a must-have for a trendy girl? It depends actually.

As most fashion conscious women know, Prada is normally known for sturdy, functional and fashionable handbags. Their sleek design and seasonal offerings will probably easily fit in with the seasons and your special occasion dressing needs. However, Prada is not for everybody. You have to have a taste for it.

Typical Prada handbags are made of materials such as leather, deerskin, fox fur trim, nylon and calfskin. The clasps, strap hooks and buckles are usually made of gold or silver hardware, and no less.

For some of the distinguished designs, antiqued finishes and contrasting stitching brings out the full flavor, so to speak. And yet, there are simple designs such as pleats, gathers and drawstrings for some others. It can be said that, there is a little for everybody.

To make keeping your cosmetics and other items easy, many Prada handbags come with magnetic snap closures and zippered inner pockets. There are also detachable identification tags, key rings and cross body straps to go with it.

And to round it all off, there is also the signature Prada logo plate prominently displayed so that people know that you are carrying the “real” thing.

Prada handbags come in a variety of neutral colors to emphasize their functionality and practicality, including camel, champagne, pewter, white, black, and natural canvas. Occasionally, more distinctive prints such as animal patterns or brighter colors are used for seasonal lines.

The Prada Milano handbag is one of the popular line made of selected leather which has been naturally cured and tanned. It has “Prada” on the interior lining, and has a marbleized “swing” handle. Some handles measure approximately 4 1/2 inches high, and 3 inches wide.

Is the Prada Milano handbag the best Prada yet? It really depends on your needs and your budget for it too.

Gucci Celebrates Love for NYC with Largest Ever Store, Overdesigned Handbags

from mediabistro

Tomorrow will mark the opening of the world's largest Gucci store, occupying three glass-enclosed floors of Trump Tower on New York's Fifth Avenue. The company calls the new, 46,000-square-foot flagship designed by James Carpenter in collaboration with Gucci creative director Frida Giannini "its grandest architectural endeavor to date." To celebrate, Gucci has created a series of limited-edition "Gucci Loves New York" handbags. The good news: all proceeds from the bags, which go on sale tomorrow, will benefit the Central Park Conservancy. The bad news: the bags look to have been designed by committee, combining Gucci's old-school script logo (one of a handful of logos the brand has been switching among lately) and the house's signature GG-monogrammed canvas with a nod to Milton Glaser's I [heart] NY design. Topping it off is a blue-red-blue racer stripe that evokes Goyard and Dior more than Gucci, with its green-red-green signature that derived from the company's distinctive saddlery webbing.

OK, we'll admit it. We think that Gucci has lost its aesthetic way in the years since the departure of Tom Ford and Domenico de Sole. The pair executed a brilliant brand renovation that managed to leverage Gucci's heritage, impart a cool, streamlined aesthetic, and make us forget any design hiccups in the house's scandal-soaked past, all the while building up a robust portfolio of blue-chip brands (including Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen, and Balenciaga). In the just over four years that have passed since Ford and de Sole decamped, the Gucci brand has continued its relentless expansion (comparable revenues were up 11% last year) but lost much of its distinctive aesthetic.

Like Ford, designer Giannini is fond of dipping into the Gucci archives for ideas and prints, but contrary to the Ford era, those design elements are rarely fully explored or carried through as signatures from season to season. So in the space of a few collections, Gucci has meandered from vintage flower prints to bold geometrics and folkloric paisleys to Tyrolean-inspired coats and a spring collection awash in oversized horse bit motifs. The new "Gucci Loves New York" bags are symptomatic of the house's current case of multiple personality disorder. Good thing Bellevue is only a few blocks away.

The Perfect Marc Jacobs Handbag - What to Look for

By Lizzie Collins

Bright colors, unique prints, over sized buttons and accessories – Marc Jacobs handbags have always been some of the most-anticipated designer pieces in the industry. And if you’re looking for a new Marc Jacobs leather handbag, it’s important to find one that is not only practical and functional, but also suits your style. From the famous Marc Jacobs tote bags to his signature quilted handbags, it’s easy to get caught up in the moment and buy a bag solely based on trends, but there are many other things you should look for when shopping for a new handbag.

Size and Storage

When searching through the Marc Jacobs collection for the perfect bag, make sure you pay attention to its size and think about how much you need to carry in your handbag on a regular basis. Because if the bag you get isn’t big enough for your most important things, that pretty little bag will just end up looking fabulous at the bottom of your closet.

For women who carry just about everything they own with them, you can’t go wrong with one of roomy Marc Jacobs tote bags. It’s big enough to keep all of your necessities plus that spare pair of shoes you’ll need to take your favorite outfit from day to evening in a flash.

For those who often have a jumble of items in their purse, the Marc Jacobs multi-pocket handbag can be the most practical solution. With zipped center pockets that divide the interior compartment, the Marc Jacobs multi-pocket handbag has a place for everything. Both the Marc Jacobs tote bags and the Marc Jacobs multi-pocket handbags come in larger sizes that match the current handbag trends – complete with the signature, chic Marc Jacobs style.

Color

Marc Jacobs leather handbags come in a variety of colors. From royal blue, to metallic silver – to beautiful black and white – each Marc Jacobs leather handbag has a style all its own.

The biggest trend in bags right now leans toward the colorful metallics. Marc Jacobs leather handbags come in stunning silver, beautiful bronze or rich royal blue, so if you want to add that trendy flare to your ensemble, you could choose one of the more colorful handbags.

However, if your style is a bit more conservative, go with a classic Marc Jacobs leather handbag, in a neutral color such as black or white. The style will be up to date and the materials and construction will be unparalleled – which means the bag will give you years of use. Plus, in these shades, you’ll be able to carry your beautiful Marc Jacobs handbag with just about every outfit in your wardrobe.

Haute Couture

Canada.com

"Haute Couture" is one of those phrases that is bandied about in popular culture. But its uses are not always faithful to its real meaning. Like "champagne", "haute couture" is a carefully regulated term. And you can no more apply that term to any old pretty frock, than you can call any glass sparkling plonk, champagne.

The Spring 2008 Couture collections are taking place in Paris and it got me thinking about what couture means and what it takes to qualify to show at a couture collection. For all intensive purposes, the couture collections are the Rolls Royce of fashion shows. Literally translating as "high sewing," you can't get any finer, or more expensive, garments out there.

The History of Couture

The haute couture movement, and the idea of Paris as the world's fashion capital, got started in the 18th century when French court style was imitated across Europe. Travel was also taking off at this time, meaning more people were exposed to, and desirous of imitating, the styles they saw in the French court at Versailles. Because of the detail and decadence of these garments, French clothing was considered the height of quality and imitations made at home were deemed inferior to those garments bought originally in Paris.

Charles Frederick Worth, ironically an Englishman rather than a Frenchman, is widely considered the father of haute couture. While taking once-off commissions for wealthy clients, he also created a collection of designs to be shown by models at the House of Worth. Customers could then choose a model, specify colours, fabrics or changes and have that garment made-to-measure.

This combination of a "showpiece" and a bespoke final garment was groundbreaking, allowing customers to easily visualize, while still customize. Others were swift to follow, including some names we still know today: Lanvin, Chanel, Balenciaga and Dior, as well as some that have faded from memory, like Schiaparelli (most famous for her trademark shade of pink,) Fortuny and Patou.

The movement had legs and designers who apprenticed under the formative houses often forged out on their own. Designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Cardin and Emanuel Ungaro and Lacroix were successful at establishing their own lines. However, today the haute couture collection is no longer the bread-and-butter of the fashion industry and more and more houses have shied away from producing this expensive and niche line in favour of pret-a-porter (or ready-to-wear) collections and, of course, accessories. And, while Paris is still seen as a fashion capital, it is no longer the only capital. We have London, New York and Milan and many other contenders. So, the concept of Paris as the sole arbiter of high fashion no longer holds water.

Couture Designers Today

While haute couture is no longer the bread-and-butter of a company, the term is protected by law and defined by the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Paris. Their rules state that only "those companies mentioned on the list drawn up each year by a commission domiciled at the Ministry for Industry are entitled to avail themselves" of the label haute couture. The qualifiying conditions hark back to the provenance of the term: Items must be made-to-measure for clients with one or more fittings. The designers must have a workshop, or atelier, in Paris with a staff of a minimum of fifteen people. And, finally, each season the designer must present a collection made up of at least thirty-five runs with both day- and evening-wear. The individuals who buy couture are considered patrons of the arts.

While designers do clamor to give away couture gowns to the rich and famous for events like the Oscars, some ensembles are actually bought by very wealthy individuals who believe in supporting the haute couture tradition. They believe that it gives a designer the ultimate opportunity to be wholly creative in creating a collection that doesn't have the same pressure to sell as the pret-a-porter collection. Many of the couture creations end up in museum collections as representations of the evolution of design and the finest instances of hand-created craftsmanship out there.

What it means for Plain Jane

I'm going to make the brazen assumption that none of the people reading are actually in the market for couture pieces. So why should you be interested? -Well, for much the same reason a car enthusiast will stop and admire a Ferrari, regardless of the fact they drive a Honda CRV. It's not about having an expectation to own, it's about having an appreciation for the craft. Also, like any fashion collection, couture has its trickle-down effect. The creative spark a designer exercises in his couture collection will remain with his design.

So, what Karl Lagerfeld does at Chanel's couture collection, might influence (with less expensive adornment) his subsequent ready-to-wear collection for Chanel. And what shows at Chanel's ready-to-wear, gets recycled fast and furiously by high-street stores like Zara and H&M (with whom Karl himself once collaborated.)

So, you see, it's myopic to poo-poo the designers and the collections whose influence goes into the clothes you're wearing. Sure, we're talking about mega-buck pieces available to a spoiled few, but eventually, we're wearing some form of these clothes at a fraction of the cost. It may not be hand-sewn and made-to-measure, but with a little creative accessorizing and extra-tailoring, you can still feel pretty damn great.

Yard Sales Not the Only Way to Get Rid of Your 'Junk'

By JENNIFER FICKLEY-BAKER
Ledger Correspondent

Is your closet filled to the brim with clothes? Is your garage bursting at the seams with barely used sports equipment? Well, all that clutter could actually be worth a pretty penny, because today there are more businesses than ever willing to buy back used items.

Consignment shops are one option for reselling used adult and children's clothing. Consignment stores work by taking items from an individual and putting them up for sale in their store. Once the item sells, the seller is paid and the shop takes a commission.

One such store is Twice as Nice Consignment (1839 E. Edgewood Drive), which specializes in buying and selling upscale clothing for women and children.

"I look for brands like Anne Taylor, Chico's and Talbots, that are free of rips, stains, broken zippers, missing buttons - nothing dated," says owner Pamela Gill, who explains that shops like hers are a great way for parents to save money on buying clothes for growing children.

"They can reinvest their money and buy (again)," Gill said. "I have several parents that consign clothes on a regular basis, or I buy them out and they turn around and use the money to buy playclothes. It's just cheaper (than buying at a department store), and everything in here is like new."

Plato's Closet (4525 S. Florida Ave.) works slightly differently than a consignment shop, as it buys back "gently used" brand-name clothing geared toward teens and tweens outright. Teens literally can walk into the shop with a bag of their used clothes and walk out with cash in hand. Popular brands bought back from the store include Abercrombie & Fitch, Express, American Eagle, Gap, Hollister and more. Accessories also may be bought and sold here.

To earn money from used baby clothes, furniture and toys, stop into Kid Krazy (619-7000) in Winter Haven. Owners Lisa Birket and Michele Norris say they regularly buy back a variety of kiddie items, including cribs, blankets and non-recalled toys. Here, sellers can expect a check for their goods, or store credit with an added bonus.

"We buy everything - clothing, toys, furniture, cribs, dressers, changing tables, bunk beds, twin beds," Birket said. "We have (customers) drop it off and we call them after we go through it. Then we give a check or store credit for that amount plus an extra 10 percent. We don't take things with missing parts or pieces - we try our best to have everything complete."

Online Web sites also are a great way to unload items for larger than garage sale prices, especially some toys, recent books and designer purses.

Depending on the age of a toy and its condition, individuals can earn a gold mine selling toys on eBay.com. No-longer-produced toys from the 1950s and earlier are high collector's items. Popular children's action figures also are hot sells online. In 2007, a total of 442,342 Transformers and 344,825 Harry Potter action figures were sold on the site. Metal lunch boxes that bear images of favorite childhood cartoon characters, such as Disney characters and G.I. Joe, also go for big bucks when they're in good condition.

According to the Web site's statistics, bestselling books are also good moneymakers on eBay.com.

Higher-end purses and wallets can bring big bucks on eBay.com, especially items by Coach, Louis Vuitton, Dooney and Burke, and Chanel. It usually costs less than $1 to post an item for sale on eBay (depending on your sale price) and you're allowed to post the item for any price you wish. You can always go back in and lower the price if you haven't gotten any bids. One warning: eBay prohibits the sale of imitation handbags, so all designer purses must be authentic.

Unused sports or athletic equipment is another category of clutter than often takes up space in closets or garages. If your son never quite used that lacrosse stick he begged you for or your daughter outgrew her new water skis after only one summer, Play it Again Sports (2211 S. Florida Ave.) is a great place to resell equipment or trade it in for something they'll actually use or fit into. Play it Again Sports buys, sells and trades slightly used sports equipment and exercise machines. Before lugging that giant unused treadmill into the store, call ahead and see if they're interested.
